The Technology Group and Human Resources Support Services are internal functions providing global operations and business supports across Brookfield Asset Management business segments.

Position Summary
This role is responsible for analyzing new/existing systems, documenting requirements for new systems and new features and provide training on existing Financial applications. The Business Analyst is experienced in quickly understanding the capabilities in complicated interconnected systems, and in finding ways to document them and train users so they can be easily understood by business client. Then, when building something new, you excel in asking probing questions to understand the reasons why people are asking for certain requirements, and then finding efficient ways to explain to technical teams what to build to meet those needs.
The Business Analyst (BA)/Trainer will be reporting directly to the Program Director, and working closely with Business clients, TSG service groups and other stakeholders. The Business Analyst (BA) / Trainer will provide a detailed understanding on the features and functionality of subledgers being used in Brookfield from the user and technical aspect. The Business Analyst /Trainer will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to support /train / implement new and enhanced applications through the Solution Delivery Life Cycle. 


Responsibilities
  • Document existing business processes look for opportunities to make the process more efficient, and ensure that technical teams understand what to build to automate them
  • Analyze an existing systems functionality, data, and infrastructure, and how the system communicates with other systems
  • Identify and define detailed product requirements and use cases using various techniques, depending on the types of requirements being documented (e.g. user stories, requirements documents, use case diagrams, swim lane diagrams, data flow diagrams, etc.)
  • Investigate, evaluate and/or propose solutions (internal, market) to identified problems
  • Provide training to end users on various financial applications.
 
Quality Assurance
  • Translate requirements and use cases into test conditions and expected results for application, performance, and user acceptance testing
  • Participate in reviews of the designs, prototypes and completed products to ensure they fulfill the requirements
 
Leadership
  • Possesses great meeting facilitation skills
  • Chair design review sessions, ensuring the requirements were accurately captured and are understood by the people that will be working in meeting them
  • Cultivate positive relationships both with people inside Technology and business client
  • Serve as a liaison to the business community
  • May lead small projects in the role of project manager
  • Perform impact analysis of changes to an application or technology platform.
  • Work closely with the Applications Support, Service Delivery, and other Application Management teams to ensure business systems and system implementations are supported appropriately.
  • Participate in Project Intake Phase to help develop appropriate time and cost estimates for discovery and high-level requirements definition.
  • Contribute to the technology roadmap for selected business applications and systems.
 
 
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preference: Finance or Information Technology degree
  • Certifications in business analysis or software development processes are an asset
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
 
Minimum 5 years hands-on experience which include the following:
  • Working as a business analyst
  • Documenting existing systems
  • Documenting requirements for new features, process and/or new systems
  • Partnering with the business (i.e. Leaders, End Users) to ensure that expected outcomes are understood and implementations are successful.
 
Minimum 3 years hand-on experience which include the following:
  • Working with cloud-based financial applications or platforms: MS Dynamics 365, Concur Serengeti, including configuration and integration with other systems
  • Deliver training in a class room setting

  • Experience in Solution Development Life Cycle, including; design (creating functional/technical specifications), test scripts and other system administration, and support documentation.
  • Knowledge of accounting guidelines and principles.
  • Experience in gathering and analyzing business requirements; ability to read and write user documentation as well as strategic technology documents; ability to understand and interpret business processes, workflows, and systems to identify solutions or opportunities for application improvements (e.g. utilizing application functionality or improving application system performance); ability to leverage application/technology functionality to resolve complex business issues.  This will include using out-of-the-box functionality as well as custom-developed functions from previous implementations.
  • Breadth of experience in use and applicability of subledger and related systems to meet business financial needs.
  • Deep understanding of intersection of business and technology to readily engage in issue resolution and investigation for complex financial challenges related to integration and reporting.
  • Experience working in a multi-client environment.
  • Proven track record of service delivery, client/customer focus and relationship management.
  • Ability to assimilate, analyze and facilitate information sharing.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings such as application end-user or technical training sessions.
  • Ability to work with multiple vendors, consultants and external parties as part of the ongoing application support and development.
  • Ability to communicate/collaborate effectively with clients, management, and project teams.
